ZAP-Hosting uses a slot-based pricing model for many rental game servers. In this system, the number of slots you choose does not only represent the number of player spaces available on the server, but also determines the amount of hardware resources allocated to the server.
Why slots are limited instead of unlimited
Many games require different amounts of CPU, RAM, and storage performance depending on the number of players and the type of game. Because of this, the slot system helps ensure that every server has enough resources available to run the selected game properly and remain stable.
How the slot system works
The slot count controls the resource allocation for the server.
Higher slot tiers provide more CPU and RAM availability.
The slot tier also determines which games can be installed on the server at no additional cost.
This means that when you increase your slot count, you are not only increasing the possible number of players, but also unlocking additional system resources and compatibility with more demanding games.
Why unlimited slots are not possible
Allowing unlimited slots would make it impossible to guarantee stable performance. If a server were allowed to run unlimited players without increasing the underlying hardware allocation, it would quickly exceed the available resources and cause lag or crashes.
By tying resource allocation and supported games to the slot tier, we can ensure that servers remain stable and that customers can switch between supported games without running into hardware limitations.
For these reasons, the slot-based pricing model is used to balance performance, stability, and game compatibility across all hosted servers.
